To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what estimate she has made of the number of Environment Agency FTE staff on (a) temporary and (b) permanent contracts in each year from 2009; and if she will make a statement.

The changes in the number of staff who work at the Environment Agency represent the Spending Review settlements and income received from charge payers.

In November 2017 896 FTE transferred to Defra Corporate Services under a Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) (TUPE) arrangement.
