To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what commitments he plans to make to improve access to sexual and reproductive health services in the UK as part of the UK’s representations at the 2019 Nairobi Summit on the International Conference on Population and Development.

The Government is committed to the provision of comprehensive open access sexual health services, including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment and access to the full range of contraception methods free from prescription charge. Good progress has been made in a number of areas, but challenges remain. As set out in the Green Paper, ‘Advancing our health: prevention in the 2020s’, the Government is currently considering calls from the Health and Social Care Committee and others to develop a new Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy for England. The green paper sought comments on priority areas for any new strategy. A full response to the select committee report will be published very shortly.
