To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, for what reasons he (a) planned to suspend the granting of Tier 1 Investor visas, (b) cancelled that suspension and (c) did not announce those decisions in written or oral statements to the House; and if he will make a statement.

The Tier 1 (Investor) visa is not currently suspended. The Home Office remains committed to reforming the route and will make a further announcement in due course.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
