To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many asylum seekers are currently living in the UK.
Caroline Nokes
The Minister for Immigration
Information on the UK’s resident population is a matter for the Office for National Statistics. The Home Office does not publish estimates on the number of asylum seekers currently living in the UK.
The Home Office does however publish quarterly breakdowns of the number of asylum applications pending a decision (including dependants), in table as_02_q (asylum, volume 2) of the quarterly Immigration Statistics release.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
