Around half of DFID's annual bilateral aid for education is in fragile and conflict affected states. Where possible, we work with Governments of those countries to re-open schools and pay teacher salaries to ensure that children can secure good quality education. Where this is not possible we work through humanitarian agencies to guarantee safe learning spaces, particularly for girls.
