To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what strategies she has to create apprenticeships in her Department; and what plans she has to promote such strategies.

As a small policy Department, with a full-time staff in the region of 165, there are limited opportunities to offer apprenticeships in the NIO. Staffing levels are kept under constant review and posts are filled, normally by way of secondments or on-loan arrangements, when there is a sound business case for doing so. Should any apprenticeship opportunities arise within my Department, they would be advertised in the usual way via the Civil Service Jobs website.
