Justice written question – answered am ar 17 Gorffennaf 2013.
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how much was collected following situations where defendants breached their bail conditions and a surety had been given in order for bail to be granted in the most recent year for which information is available.
Surety amounts are recorded on the HM Courts and Tribunals Service accounting system in the same way as a fine and therefore it is not possible to identify the amounts collected that relate just to surety. This information could be provided only at disproportionate cost as it would require a manual search of fine accounts.
