To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of trade between the UK and Israel in the first quarter of 2013; and if he will make a statement.

Our bilateral trade has consistently been in excess of £2 billion over the last 10 years and should reach £4 billion this year. Between January and April 2013, the UK exported £482 million of goods, a decrease of 10% on the same period in 2012. Between January and April 2013, the UK imported £1,103 million of goods, an increase of 47% on the same period in 2012.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
