To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what the installed capacity was of each power station (a) commissioned and (b) which began generating in each year since 1989 for which data is available.

The installed capacity of each operational power station (owned or operated by major power producers) that began generating, since 1989, and until May 2012, can be found in table DUKES 5.11, available at:
No distinction is made between the year in which commissioning began and the year in which normal generation began. Data to May 2013 will be published on

The installed capacity given is as at the end of May 2012; the installed capacity of some sites may have changed since commissioning, while others (e.g. large wind farms) may not yet be at final capacity.
