Moira Wallace left DECC on 31 October 2012 after four years working in the department. Four years is generally considered the norm for a permanent secretary posting. As there were no suitable alternative roles available at that level for Ms Wallace to move to she left the civil service in accordance with the terms of voluntary exits under the Civil Service Compensation scheme.
