Home Department written question – answered am ar 18 Mai 2009.
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps her Department is taking to tackle antisocial behaviour in Swindon.
We have given practitioners the tools and powers they need to do their job effectively. When I visited Swindon recently I met the local partnership including police and the local authority to both support and challenge them to do more to make communities across Wiltshire safer.

Britain needs less interference at a local level from Central Government, the laws and powers exist for the Police to tackle this issue. It is up to the Police to actually do their job, something that appears sadly lacking in Swindon, if we are to believe local press reports. The Judiciary locally also appear not to be functioning as they should with far to many criminals being let off.
Wiltshire as a County has an ideal opportunity to vote in a new council whose aims will be about supporting local communities. A vote for UKIP and Independent candidates will mean a totally different style of local politics for Wiltshire.
