The Welsh Government is supporting general practice in Wales through investment and contract reform. We invested £20 million in 2023-24. The new unified contract streamlines services so that general practitioner time can be focused on delivering care to patients.
We will continue to press the UK Government for a principles-based approach to the fiscal framework that includes replacing the Barnett formula.
The NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee is establishing additional capacity for renal dialysis in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg health board area by opening a new facility in Bridgend. Additional funding has been provided to increase rates of home dialysis and kidney transplantation.
The Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport’s responsibilities for north Wales are to represent north Wales in the Cabinet and to represent the Welsh Government in north Wales. He chairs the north Wales Cabinet sub-committee.
