Canlyniadau 7601–7615 o 7615 ar gyfer speaker:Lord Robathan

Oral Answers to Questions — Education: National Curriculum (17 Tach 1992)

Andrew Robathan: I am grateful to my right hon. Friend for that answer. Will he further confirm that he has no intention of stopping the testing of seven-years-olds in our primary schools?

Prayers: Military Ceremonial Duties ( 6 Tach 1992)

Andrew Robathan: The Minister referred to the public duties increment. If someone is expected to spend many more years in public duties, there is no way for that person to become a good operational soldier at the same time. The Household Division has a history of providing elite soldiers who have done well in battle. They cannot do that if they do nothing but drill.

Slaughterhouse Closures (South-West) (21 Hyd 1992)

Andrew Robathan: Joseph Morris of South Kilworth in my constituency has the strong backing of innumerable consumers who enjoy his product and wish to continue to buy it. Unfortunately, he cannot afford to employ a vet full time. Could my hon. Friend the Minister look into that? Mr. Morris, who is a slaughterman, will be put out of business by the new regulations.

Orders of the Day — Merchant Fleet ( 9 Gor 1992)

Andrew Robathan: I seem to remember that during the Falklands operation the Indian Government objected to some of its nationals on British ships being sent to the Falklands.

Orders of the Day — Merchant Fleet ( 9 Gor 1992)

Andrew Robathan: I congratulate my hon. Friend the Member for Worcester (Mr. Luff) on his passionate plea for the merchant marine, and also my hon. Friend the Member for Sevenoakes (Mr. Wolfson). I cannot, I fear, back up their detailed exposition of facts and figures, but I shall consider the subject in a historical perspective. We all know that those who ignore the lessons of history are destined to repeat...

Orders of the Day — Merchant Fleet ( 9 Gor 1992)

Andrew Robathan: That is so. You, Mr. Deputy Speaker, will remember Dunkirk, when our merchant ships, small ships, and amateur sailors came to this country's defence. They saved the British Expeditionary Force, played a crucial part in raising morale, and ensured a successful outcome to the second world war. So, too, did the Atlantic convoys. I could mention many other examples. Many people viewed the Suez...

Oral Answers to Questions — Overseas Development: Population Growth ( 6 Gor 1992)

Andrew Robathan: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the implementation of the principles outlined in "Agenda 21" relating to world population growth.

Oral Answers to Questions — Overseas Development: Population Growth ( 6 Gor 1992)

Andrew Robathan: As my hon. Friend has said, during the British presidency of the EC we intend to propose a resolution to the development council in November. In March, my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister wrote that he wishes to encourage European consensus on population programmes and to urge greater support from European donor agencies. What detailed progress has been made in dealing with this matter...

Petition: Obscene Publications Act 1959 ( 2 Gor 1992)

Andrew Robathan: Will my hon. Friend give way?

Petition: Obscene Publications Act 1959 ( 2 Gor 1992)

Andrew Robathan: I was going to ask my hon. Friend when I first tried to intervene whether he intended to refer in more detail to "Juliette," which is the subject of the Adjournment debate. He may know that I spent about 15 years in the Army. I may have seen more pornography in barrack rooms than most hon. Members, and I can promise my hon. Friend that I have never seen anything in my life so depraved,...

Recycling (19 Meh 1992)

Andrew Robathan: I know that my hon. Friends want to make important comments on the subject of education. I beg to ask leave to withdraw the motion.

Recycling (19 Meh 1992)

Andrew Robathan: But not at cards.

Recycling (19 Meh 1992)

Andrew Robathan: While I approve of the hon. Gentleman's interest in the matter and delight in his support for my comments, I am sure that he would not mind my saying that he is recycling a few phrases from the debate. While I approve of multi-trip containers, multi-trip comments are a little too much.

Recycling (19 Meh 1992)

Andrew Robathan: I beg to move, That this House welcomes the Government's recent initiatives in the field of recycling, particularly the introduction of local government recycling plans; urges that further pressure be brought to bear on packagers and retailers to reduce unnecessary packaging and waste; and believes that further initiatives are required to encourage the use of reusable and returnable bottles...

Soldiers' Deaths (Gulf War) (19 Mai 1992)

Andrew Robathan: Does my right hon. and learned Friend agree that, despite the tragic and ghastly accident that led to the deaths of these fine young men, all British forces who served in the Gulf have reason to be grateful in particular to the pilots of A 10s, whose outstanding work in destroying Iraqi tanks contributed to our casualties from enemy action being minimal?
