Barry Gardiner has made an excellent contribution to this debate and is right to say we need a radical change. The comment about the EU commissioner stating in the morning 30% cuts in emissions are absolutely vital and in the afternoon saying these are not possible is revealing.
These EU problems are the same problems that the other major blocks also face and they result from a market based economy. To tackle climate change we must challenge the concept of the market economy and the concept of competitive engagement between nation states and market states. Without this, no worthwhile climate change agreement is possible, and our civilization faces destruction.
