In my view, salmon farming is one of the greatest success stories in modern Scotland, yet I believe that it is the most undervalued. Furthermore, I am not aware of any other industry that is the subject of more politically motivated, unjust and ill-informed attacks than our aquaculture sector. I was pleased to hear the cabinet secretary defending the industry against some of the arguments...
I will come to that. In principle, we all want to work well together. I hope that that is a high-level answer. The industry has done enormous things, including investing in modern hatcheries. I was privileged to open Mowi’s hatchery in Invergarry. Modern hatcheries will advance fish health, because young salmon spend more time there and less time at sea, which is a good thing....
