Lancashire police are among the best performing in the country and one of the leading forces nationally in developing restorative practices. Owing to the successes experienced in areas such as Lancashire, the Government want to see an extension of restorative programmes. To that end, we are currently working with interested groups, including the Restorative Justice Consortium, to develop a national victim-focused restorative justice strategy for adult offenders.

If Lancashire Police is in the Vanguard of any scheme then the country is doomed. It is almost eight years since I last reported anything to the local police because nothing was ever done, and matters have deteriorated substantially since.
I have yet to come across a victim who has any clue as to what this scheme is about. I am still waiting for the thug who took half my face away with a pint glass to apologise, but after 47 years I think that is more in a politicians hope than my expectation.
