When my hon. Friend next meets the Film Council, will she urge it to promote lower budget British and European films over US blockbusters as that will both increase the number of film crews employed and ensure reciprocity so that British film crews have the same opportunities to work as American crews enjoy here?

I am an actor & worked on 2 low budget feature films (made by young British film directors) last year. One was shot in spring 2008 (we were paid - for once!) & I am still waiting to shoot a last scene as is another actor. The reason for this, I understand, is that the director has had to go back to money earning work in order to be able to finish! The scenes should be filmed shortly, I'm told. The film is about (broadly speaking) shady goings on in big business - very topical! More help for a good (I hope) low budget British film would have been very welcome. I hope it is forthcoming in future.
