I strongly agree with the hon. Gentleman. It is not a question of visiting Cyprus again; there has not been a visit to Cyprus by a British Foreign Secretary since the 1960s, apart from the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Nicosia. It is precisely because I believe that that policy, which has been pursued over a long period, is no longer appropriate that it is necessary—in order to encourage Greek and Turkish Cypriots to have dialogue with each other—for us and for others of good will to have dialogue with both communities in Cyprus. I believe that we have an opportunity now to see some real progress.
