asked the Minister of Agriculture if all the county agricultural executive committees will this season have the necessary equipment on hire to assist small farmers in making silage economically.

Additional supplies of silage making machinery have been allocated this season to agricultural executive committees, and with the machinery already in hand this should enable them to give considerable assistance to small farmers where necessary.

May we take it that this will apply to every county in England and Wales?

I believe so, and where there may be a shortage we have put in orders for 100 more mowers, 300 green crop loaders and 200 sweeps, and we hope that when deliveries are made we shall have sufficient.
