The measures adopted by the Far Eastern Commission to disarm Japan, which have been transmitted to the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers in the form of directives, are combined in two policy decisions dated 19th June, 1947, and 12th February, 1948, copies of which have been placed in the Library of the House. These measures provide for the complete disarmament of Japan.

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that there are hundreds of thousands of Japanese troops who have returned to Japan, who are not settling down, and who are understood to be secretly rearming? What is the Government's attitude about that?

I will took into any information which the hon. Gentleman has, but my information is that demilitarisation and disarmament are proceeding satisfactorily.
