Oral Answers to Questions — British Army – in the House of Commons am 12:00 am ar 16 Rhagfyr 1947.
asked the Secretary of State for War whether any accommodation for British troops is available in the Crater at Aden; and whether he now proposes to arrange for any units to be stationed there.
So far as I am aware, there is no accommodation suitable for British troops in the area referred to. The situation at Aden is being kept under constant review by the Commander-in-Chief, Middle East Land Forces, who will make whatever dispositions are necessary.
Does the right hon. Gentleman feel reasonably assured that we have forces in Aden adequately disposed to cope with any further disturbances?
I would not care to answer that question.
Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that, whatever may be the position at the Crater, there are a number of "Craters" in Scotland which do not want the Army at all?
