Oral Answers to Questions — British Army – in the House of Commons am 12:00 am ar 16 Rhagfyr 1947.
asked the Secretary of State for War if he will give a summary of the recommendations of the interim report of the Manpower Economy Committee; which of these he proposes adopting; and what saving in manpower is anticipated.
As I said in reply to a Question by my hon. Friend last week, this report is being considered. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Defence indicated recently, in reply to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Stafford (Mr. Swingler) on 12th November that he would consider making further information available on the work of this Committee and the corresponding committees dealing with the other two Services. I must ask my hon. Friend to await this information.
Can my right hon. Friend say why he is not prepared to give this information to the House, and can he further say whether he has been impressed with the far-reaching character of the recommendations?
The reason I cannot give further details on the recommendations is because the report of the Committee is now being considered.
