Mr Thomas Skeffington-Lodge

12:00,
5 Tachwedd 1947
asked the Secretary of State for Air whether, in the interests of the inhabitants generally, and of the safety of children in particular, he will give instructions for the R.A.F. lorries travelling to and from the camps at Melchbourne, Bedfordshire, and at Yelden, to use the Air Ministry road which by-passes the village of Melchbourne itself.
Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
