asked the Prime Minister whether he has invited the Prime Ministers of the Dominions to a conference on the measures necessary for an increase in trade within the Empire and for the conservation of the dollar resources of the Empire; and, if so, what replies he has received.

As the hon. Member is, no doubt, aware, a conference was recently held in London with representatives of other Commonwealth Governments, over which my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer presided. At this conference, the financial and economic problems now facing the Governments of the Commonwealth were fully discussed, and particular attention was given to the conservation of dollar resources. It was agreed that there should be close and continuing consultation on these matters, in view of these facts, I hope the hon. Member may agree that I is unnecessary to act as he suggests.

Arising out of that reply, does the Prime Minister deny the report in the Press of 15th October to the effect that the Prime Ministers of the Dominions had been invited to such a conference during their visit on the occasion of the Royal Wedding and that some of them refused the invitation?

There is no information about a conference on economic problems and exchange, and I am really not responsible for newspaper reports.
