Oral Answers to Questions — Post Office – in the House of Commons am 12:00 am ar 29 Hydref 1947.
asked the Postmaster-General the number of sub-post offices there are in the country; how many are staffed by full-time civil servants; and the average annual turnover for a sub-office in the Greater London area and the rural areas, respectively.
Apart from head post offices, there are 23,790 post offices in the country, of which 1,173 are staffed by full-time civil servants. I regret that information regarding the average turnover at sub-post offices of various types is not readily available and could only be ascertained by the expenditure of an inordinate amount of labour.
