Oral Answers to Questions — Education – in the House of Commons am 12:00 am ar 7 Awst 1947.
asked the Minister of Education how many class-rooms, teachers and text books are deficient to meet the increased school population as a result of the raising of the school leaving age.
So far as class-rooms and teachers are concerned, I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the statement which I made when introducing my Department's Estimates on 31st July. As for textbooks, I cannot say to what extent the general shortage will affect the extra age group. As the hon. and gallant Member is aware, steps have been taken to improve the supply.
Can the right hon. Gentleman give any indication of when the shortage will be overcome?
No, it will be overcome when we meet the requirements.
