asked the Minister of Health if he will request furnished houses rent control tribunals to make it clear to tenants referring cases to them that they are liable to be dispossessed of their accommodation by their landlords at the end of the three months' period of security afforded by the Act.

My information is that tribunals already explain to applicants the position as to security of tenure under the Act.

asked the Minister of Health in order to protect tenants of furnished accommodation from the vindictiveness of their landlords, if he will now request local authorities to exercise their powers to refer cases that come within their knowledge to the furnished houses rent tribunals.

It is for the local authorities to determine in any particular case whether they should exercise their powers of reference to a tribunal. I think, however, that they might with advantage exercise their powers much more freely and I hope that this Question and answer will have the effect of stimulating action by them in suitable cases.
