Part of Orders of the Day — LOCAL GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) BILL [Lords] – in the House of Commons am 12:00 am ar 29 Gorffennaf 1947.
Mr Joseph Westwood
, Stirling and Falkirk District of Burghs
12:00,
29 Gorffennaf 1947
I beg to move, in page 72, line 20, to leave out "or."
This, and the next three Amendments that stand in my name, two of them to the next Clause, are consequential on the Fire Services Bill.
A parliamentary bill is divided into sections called clauses.
Printed in the margin next to each clause is a brief explanatory `side-note' giving details of what the effect of the clause will be.
During the committee stage of a bill, MPs examine these clauses in detail and may introduce new clauses of their own or table amendments to the existing clauses.
When a bill becomes an Act of Parliament, clauses become known as sections.
