asked the Minister of Education if he will ensure that the standard record card to be issued by the Lancashire local education authority, or any other local education authority, will not require schoolchildren to render to their teachers confidential reports on their parents or on their home life.
I cannot conceive that any local education authority would require schoolchildren to render confidential reports on their parents or on their home life. I certainly should not countenance any such action.
I am very glad to hear the Minister's assurance, but is he aware that a draft got out by one local authority does ask for that very information? If I send him particulars will he investigate the matter?
If we can have the particulars we shall certainly investigate. As I have said, the Ministry would not countenance such an imposition.
