asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why he refused an exchange licence for £70,000 to enable the British Aluminium Company to complete, at their works in Norway, a project for the manufacture of a special product which cannot be made in England.
This decision has already been reconsidered in the light of further information, and the application has been allowed.
Was it supplied by the company, or did the Minister think it up for himself?
The matter was looked at again in consultation with the Departments concerned—that is the Departments other than the Treasury—and it was then thought it would be a reasonable thing to grant it.
Why did they not make the right decision in the first place?
