Oral Answers to Questions — Trade and Commerce – in the House of Commons am 12:00 am ar 17 Ebrill 1947.
asked the President of the Board of Trade why the permitted importation of books and periodicals from Australia has recently been reduced; and by how much.
I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for the City of London (Mr. Assheton) on 25th March on this matter. It is not yet possible to estimate the effect of the change on imports from Australia, but I hope that it will be small.
Can the Minister say that he will allow free imports again as soon as possible?
Certainly, as soon as possible. We shall be most anxious to do that.
