Colonel Sir Alan Gomme-Duncan
, Perth
12:00,
31 Mawrth 1947
asked the Prime Minister whether he has considered the statement sent from the Liaison Committee of Transport and Industry, representing a large proportion of trade and industry of the United Kingdom, in response to the invitation for criticism contained in white paper, Cmd. 7046; whether he has noted the opinion expressed therein; and what course he intends to follow, in view of that opinion.
A document issued by the Government laying out its policy, or proposed policy, on a topic of current concern.Although a white paper may occasion consultation as to the details of new legislation, it does signify a clear intention on the part of a government to pass new law. This is a contrast with green papers, which are issued less frequently, are more open-ended and may merely propose a strategy to be implemented in the details of other legislation.
