asked the Minister of Food if he will make available some of the turkeys from the U.S.A. to butchers in the rural areas for cooking and selling in sandwiches and by so doing help the farmworkers' wives in their difficulties of providing packed meals.
If and when arrangements for the purchase of these turkeys are concluded, I will consider the possibility of adopting my hon. Friend's suggestion.
Is it true that these turkeys are so old and so tough that they are useless for sandwiches or anything else?
Is it true chat they have been in cold storage for about three years?
No, Sir, there is not a word of truth in either of those two statements.
