asked the Secretary of State for War if, in order to assist ex—Regular soldiers to start a new career, he will give them the option of commuting part of their long service pension into a lump sum payment.
A service pensioner has already the opportunity of commuting a portion of his pension for an immediate lump sum, if he wishes, under the conditions set out in Article 1174, Pay Warrant, 1940, if he can satisfy the Commissioners of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, that it would be a distinct and permanent advantage to him to do so. Applications for commutation should be addressed to the Commissioners.
