Oral Answers to Questions — Housing (Scotland) – in the House of Commons am 12:00 am ar 25 Mawrth 1947.
asked the Secretary of State for Scotland in respect of how many houses have applications been received through local authorities, and have grants been made, under Clause 9 of the Housing (Financial Provisions) (Scotland) Act, 1946; on how many such grant-aided projects has work begun; and how many have been completed up to the latest date available.
Local authorities have received 145 applications for the increased grant and have undertaken to pay grant in respect of 94 houses. It is not possible to say how many of these particular houses have been completed or are under construction. But since the passing of the 1946 Act, 45 houses have been completed under Part II of the 1938 Act, and at the end of February, 276 houses were under construction.
Will the Secretary of State make certain that where applications are made for houses which are not at present in occupation, but were in occupation at the time the 1938 Act was passed, consideration will be given to a grant?
I will certainly look into the point raised by the hon. Member.
