asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many cattle and sheep it is estimated have been lost in Scotland in the present severe weather; and what is their approximate cost, respectively.
It is as yet too early to form any reliable estimate of losses of livestock in Scotland due to the recent severe weather. I am afraid that some losses in sheep have been inevitable, but I understand it is unlikely that any substantial number of cattle will have been lost.
In view of the catastrophic losses which farmers are suffering now will the Minister undertake along with his right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture to open a special review with regard to mutton and wool?
That Question does not arise on the Question on the Order Paper.
In view of the Minister's notorious willingness to look into anything, will he look into the question of compensation for the terrible losses which are being sustained by Scottish farmers?
That does not arise out of this Question.
