asked the Minister of Labour what progress has been made in his Department's scheme for making grants to assist ex-Servicemen to set up in businesses on their own account; and if he is satisfied that there is no undue delay in handling these cases.

The Resettlement Grants Scheme has been in operation since 18th June, 1945, and, during the period up to 28th February last, 16,000 grants have been made. I have no reason to think that there is any undue delay in dealing with applications under the Scheme, but if the hon. Member has any particular cases in mind, and will let me have information about them, I will gladly inquire into them.

Has the right hon. Gentleman any difficulty with the Ministry of Supply and Ministry of Food in getting licences for these men, so that they can get raw materials and commodities?

No such difficulties have been brought to my notice, but I am prepared to look into the matter and see if there are any.
