Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the Lebanon and Trans-Jordan have prohibited or restricted the importation of Palestinian goods of Jewish origin. Egypt also does not permit the entry of such goods in transit. Although there has been a considerable reduction in exports to the countries concerned since the imposition of the boycott, the adverse effect has to some extent been offset by the opening of new markets for Palestinian goods. Nevertheless, I am glad to have this opportunity of condemning this form of economic discrimination which is quite contrary to the accepted principles governing international trade and can bring only harm to those who employ it.
