asked the Secretary of State for Air if he will have the complaints of night flying over the built-up area in the south-eastern district of the city of Leicester investigated; and if he will ascertain from what aerodrome these exercises are taking place and instruct the responsible unit not to fly over a built-up area, particularly at night.

Neither my Department nor the civil police have received complaints about night flying over Leicester. After inquiry, I am satisfied that the exercises which take place should not disturb the residents of any part of the city. But if my hon. Friend will let me have more details, I will gladly see if there is anything further which I can do.

Will the Minister instruct these aerodromes that training flights must be concluded by 10 p.m. during the winter months?

I will certainly consider that.
