asked the Chancellor of the exchequer what progress had been made at the end of 1946 towards the expenditure of £3,272,350 shown under the Civil Estimates as being required for departmental forms, circulars, pamphlets, etc., during the current financial year; and how this expenditure compares with the amount expended during a similar period in 1945.

The chancellor of the exchequer is the government's chief financial minister and as such is responsible for raising government revenue through taxation or borrowing and for controlling overall government spending.
