The Ministry of Food is at present assisted by 26 advisory committees, the function of which is to make available to the Ministry the advice and experience of their members.

Mr. Adamson:

Were the interests of those engaged in the production of these articles also taken into account?

I cannot answer definitely without notice, but my general impression is that they are all unpaid.

Is it not a fact that the trade members on these Committees are not allowed to confer with members of the trades concerned, so that in many cases the advice is not adequate?

I do not think that is the general position. These men are chosen for their experience of and contacts with the trades concerned. They have always given valuable advice.
