asked the Secretary for Mines what the respective portions of French coal imports from Britain and Germany, respectively, amounted to in tonnage and percentage for each of the years 1928 to date?

the agreement has not been honoured, but I am hopeful that, as a result of discussions which are now taking place, the position will be still further improved.

Are we to understand that there are no grounds for the complaints that are expressed in different parts of the coal industry?

Mr. Lloyd:

No, Sir, I would not go so far as to say that, but in fact the United Kingdom and the French interests are meeting to-morrow on this very point.
