asked the Secretary for Mines what steps are being taken to enable Members of Parliament, men and boys employed in the mining industry, and others interested to view the work that is done at the mining research depot at Buxton?
Each year since 1927 arrangements have been made for parties of men and boys employed in the mining industry, mining students and others to witness demonstrations of the work in progress at the Safety Research Station at Buxton. In 1938, 22 demonstrations were given attended by some 6,000 visitors, of whom about 2,000 were boys. Similar demonstrations on the same scale are taking place this year. Some hon. Members have visited the station with these parties, or may be arranging to do so, but if a number of Members wish to visit the station together, I shall be very happy to co-operate in making arrangements.
