I have received a number of representations in this matter, but it is not one in which I have power to intervene.

Will my right hon. Friend consider an amendment of the law under which all such reassessments would come into court at the same time?

I must point out to my hon. Friend that questions regarding fresh legislation should be addressed to the Patronage Secretary.

Mr. Rathbone:

Are any amendments of the law being considered in my right hon. Friend's Department?

No, Sir. These matters were decided some time ago, and I am not at present considering any amendment of the law.

Mr. Rathbone:

Does that mean that my right hon. Friend considers the present state of the law to be entirety satisfactory?
