asked the Minister of Transport whether his notice has been called to a High Court decision on regulations relative to pedestrians at beacon crossings; and whether he is satisfied with the position as it now stands or whether he intends to withdraw the present regulations and substitute others.

The answer to the first part of the Question is in the affirmative; to the second part that I am more satisfied with the regulations themselves than with the observance of their spirit by drivers or pedestrians; to the third part that I have no such intention at present, but am closely observing conditions.

Is is not the case that this decision has clarified the intention of the regulations?

Has the right hon. Gentleman's attention been drawn to the confusion that exists in the mind of pedestrians between controlled and uncontrolled crossings, so that they do not know exactly what their rights are?
