Particulars of the total trade of the United Kingdom are not compiled for periods of less than a calendar month. The figures for September will be published in the "Accounts relating to Trade and Navigation of the United Kingdom" on Monday next.

Can the right hon. Gentleman tell us whether the approximate figures which he gets every week show a considerable increase in the exports?

I do not get any returns every week. I only get returns at the end of the month.

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he can give particulars of the imports of dutiable articles during the month of September?

Particulars of the imports during September of the more important dutiable goods will be found in the September issue of the monthly "Accounts relating to Trade and Navigation of the United Kingdom," which will be published on Monday next. I should explain that owing to the labour involved full particulars of the imports of these goods are not compiled by the Customs except for calendar years.

Can the right hon. Gentleman say how these returns compare with the figures of the previous month, and the average of the previous three months?

I could do so when I get them, but I cannot get them until next Monday.
