asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the amounts which have been given each year by the Imperial Economic Committee for the Jamaica Producers' Association and their work in connection with organising the banana trade; and whether such grants are to be continued in the future?

In accordance with the recommendations of the Imperial Economic Committee, a grant of £1,200 per annum for two years, from July, 1926, to June, 1928, was made from the Empire Marketing Fund to the Jamaica Producers' Association in aid of their foundation expenses in organising the marketing of bananas on a co-operative basis. This grant was expressly stated to be limited to the expenses of establishment and overhead charges during the initial period of organisation, and it has therefore not been extended beyond the original two years.
