asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he will consider the desirability of publishing a précis of the causes and aims of the subversive propaganda in India which has entailed the introduction of public safety measures?
When the Public Safety Ordinance recently issued by the Governor-General in Council is received here, my Noble Friend will consider the desirability of its presentation to Parliament as a Command Paper together with a brief statement of the reasons which necessitated its issue. As to any more general statement, however, I would remind the hon. Member that the trial of certain persons in India on a conspiracy charge is now pending, and it would be improper to publish any statement on a matter that is sub judice.
