asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that on Tuesday, 30th June, the hon. Member for the Plaistow Division of West Ham received a postcard posted on 25th March, 1909, and that, in consequence of the card bearing only a halfpenny stamp, the postage rate then in force, he was surcharged one penny; and whether he is in a position to give an explanation why the postcard was so long delayed?
The circumstances had not previously come to my notice. If the hon. Member will send me the postcard referred to, I will have inquiry made concerning its treatment in the post.
I have the card here.
