asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department what are the emigration figures for men, women and children since 1st January, 1924; and what percentage went to the Dominions and Colonies?
During the five months ended 31st May, 1924 (the latest date up to which the statistics have been compiled), 62,605 British subjects were recorded as leaving permanent residence in the United Kingdom to take up permanent residence in non-European countries. Of this number, 30,476 males and 21,407 females were 12 years of age and upwards, and 10,722 were children under 12 years of age. 95 per cent. of these emigrants were recorded as going to British Dominions and Colonies.
